Sorry I haven't posted in so long. I just haven't gotten around to it and I am kinda mad at myself for not posting sooner because I have a lot to say now! Hahaha!
So I will go in the order that all the events occurred! I think that will be easiest!:)
1. Last weekend was my first AFS weekend, since arriving in France! It was sooo much fun! Since there are only two kids in Alsace, my region, we did the weekend with our neighboring region, Lorraine! It was awesome because the other girl in Alsace, Marie, and I became really close and got along really well and I got to see some of my other friends from orientation! The whole weekend pretty much consisted of us playing games, doing activities, talking about our goals personally and how our exchange has been going so far!
I am really happy that AFS does these weekends because they are very helpful. It is a time and place where you are surrounded by kids in the same situation as you and you can talk to them and they are really the only ones who relate when you tell them what has been happening in your life. I think it is also a great time to get a new perspective on your exchange and almost in a way, get re-motivated. For me, when I got home, I was sooo motivated to speak in French and really learn and listen. Not that I wasn't doing that before, I just had a new push to REALLY REALLY put my whole brain into it! Hahaha! Safe to say I want to sleep a lot now! LOL! We also had to speak in french when talking in a group or answering questions, so that was very good for me, because you weren't rushed and you had the chance to really form a sentence and say it correctly without feeling rushed! Over all the weekend was great and I enjoyed it!:)
2. Then Thursday I had a field trip for one of my classes! We took the tram into Mulhouse and went to this really cool museum for war comics! Ill post some pics of it later in this post! Later that night when I got home, Renata told me that we were going to dinner at the neighbors house, so I was super excited to meet them! Turns out they are polish! Hahaha! So dinner consisted of some french and some polish! Mainly polish though! LOL! Its funny because most polish people apparently take off their shoes when they come into the house and then put slippers or house shoes on! So when Lea and I walked in, we took our shoes off and then Bronca the neighbor, brought us slippers to wear! The food she made was really good! We had beef cooked with apples and spices and then baked veggies!
3. I AM OFFICIALLY ON VACATION UNTIL NOVEMBER 2ND!!!!!!! It's great because french schools have a 2 week break after every 6 weeks! So this next week I am just hanging out and probably going to do some stuff with friends and then for the second week, Olivia and I are going to NORWAY! Which I am so excited for! I will probably take 10,000 pictures!
4. Friday Olivia got in to town for Renata's birthday, so Renata, Olivia and I went to a pool in Germany for the evening! But when I say pool I really mean a castle of pools and spas! It was like a really big facility that you can go to for the spa or you can just go and use the pools, sauna, hot tubs...etc. It was really fun. We brought food and had dinner there and just swam and hot tubbed!:)
5. Last night I went to mass with Renata, Wojtek and Olivia! The church we went to was in a town near by, because the priest is an old friend of Renatas! It was very cool to see how Catholic mass is done and for it to be in French! The church was tiny, but it was insanely beautiful! As I was walking up to it, there were vineyards in the background on the hill side and the sun was starting to set! I just kept thinking to myself, how is this even possible.
