Okay so that was the general over view of my day and for those of you that don't understand french, I am assuming thats quite a few, just use the little google translate button at the top of the page!:) Haha!:) So since I gave you pretty much what I did yesterday in french. I am going to give you all the details and stories in English because it is hard for me to tell stories in french! LOL!
STORY TIME!!!!:)
So before I start these little tales I must say that I am very proud of myself because yesterday I did everything by myself. I bought my train ticket in Mulhouse took my train, found the correct tram, bought a ticket for that, went shopping and was able to navigate the weird european streets, through the big crowds and then I was able to take the tram back to the station and take my train back home and all while speaking french! I was extremely tired yesterday when I got home, but very very very happy with my improvement in french since I arrived and my ability to do all those things yesterday without help!:)
Now just to clarify, I say I did this all by myself, which means I had some super embarrassing slightly stressful moments multiply times though out my whole day! LOL!
First, When Wojtek took me to the train station he asked me if I could get my train ticket by myself and I thought to myself, " yeah I got this, Lea told me what machine to use, it'll be fine!" So I tell wojtek I can do it by myself! Once I entered the station I was looking around for the machine Lea described to me! Since I bought my ticket with her train card I got a cheaper ticket but the machine I had to print it out of was different apparently! So I see a machine that looks like what lea described and I am trying not to look like a lost child as I see if it the right one. I decided that machine was definitely not the one I needed and headed over to this other one. I stare at this one for about 2 minutes press some buttons and decide that thats not the machine I need either! But by that point is was very clear that if I continued to wonder around checking every machine in the station I would miss my train. LOL! So I opted to ask for help from the information desk!:) This man told me to go to this other room which had 2 other machines in it! So once again I start my " try not to look stupid while figuring out what the heck your suppose todo" act and I try both the machines! Once again I can't figure out how to get this ticket to print and I am starting to get slightly panicky. LOL. But then I saw this woman who was walking around helping people! I asked her what to do and she went with me over to one of the machines I had already tried, she pushed all these buttons I put in a code and the machine still didn't work. Finally she just told me to wait in the line for the desk where you can just buy your ticket in person because I can also just give them the card I bought it on and they can print it out! Moral of the story I should have just got in line when I arrived and saved myself some stress and embarrassment!
Second, When I arrived back at the train station in Strasbourg, I had arrived wayyyy to early because I wasn't sure how long the tram was going to take and I also wasn't sure where in the train station my train was coming in, so I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to accidentally miss my train! So while I was waiting for the number of my train to be posted I decided to go get a coffee at this shop, but when I walked up to order my whole brain literally went BLANK of all things french! I said, "bonjour," then I couldn't remember anything else! I stood there like an idiot saying, "ummmmmmummm" while I struggled to remember what sentence I need. Finally I just gave up and asked the guy if he spoke english, he was really nice and actually spoke really good english. After I had ordered and he was making the coffee he asked me where I was from and when I told him Texas you would have thought I gave this guy 1000000 euros! It was hilarious! He went into FULL BLOWN french mode and kept going, " OOO LA LA OOOOO LA LA OOOO LA LA TEXAS OOO LA LA, I LOVE TEXAS!" I couldn't help but laugh because this guy was sooo happy about it! I think he had only been to San Antonio because that the city he mentioned and was saying he loved it soo much, he had to go there for a job and just loved it! It was really awesome for me because after I mentioned that I was from Texas my latte was the most perfect prettiest latte I have ever seen! LOL! when I left he did this funny bow thing and was like, "enchante, Have a wonderful evening!" That coffee guy definitely made my night! It was a really funny encounter!
Alrighty, I am very sorry for this long blog, I have more to say as per usual but I dont want to write a book. Strasbourg really was sooo amazing and I hope I can go back one more time at least before I leave! Also this is the first blog in a LONGGG time that we are going to have story time and picture time!:):)
I also forgot to put on here that we decorated the christmas tree friday night! It's so so so cool because wojtek cut it down in the backyard and then just put it in the house! SOMEONE I will not name them called my tree, " a lame christmas tree" But I will inform you all that it is not lame, It is a real tree so it isn't as HUGE or as FULL as the fake trees BECAUSE IT IS REAL! okay now I am finished!:)
