Strasbourg

Salut lovely people,

I know I haven't posted anything in a while. Sorry for that! I am double posting tonight as you will all find out, because I had too many pics for one post. So I decided to post one for friday and one for saturday!

This is friday's post!

So friday Renata, Lea and I all went to Strasbourg, which is like the large city in my area. It is beautiful! But before we went to Strasbourg we stopped in this little little town. I don't even know the name of it! I call it the vineyard town because, that's all that was there! Just hills and hills of vineyards! It was so beautiful! I took like a thousand pictures! Hahaha! Anyway so we stopped there to pick up one of Renata's friends nephew, because he was working at this vineyard for a week and then was headed to Strasbourg. So we gave him a ride! While we were at the vineyard Renata had a quick little wine tasting and bought some wine! We also got to explore a bit and go down where all the barrels of wine where and got to see "where the magic happens". It was really cool! When you went down into the underground "cellars" you could smell the wine, it was an interesting smell! Hard to describe! Hahaha! After that we headed to Strasbourg!

I swear I have some sort of condition or its the stick shift cars here, but I CANNOT STAY AWAKE IN A CAR TO SAVE MY LIFE! It's crazy! LOL! If we are driving more than 30 minutes, I fall asleep! Renata calls me baby Grace whenever I do this! HAHAHA! Today when I was face timing my family, Homie (family friend) he told me my brother has the same "condition" and that he was, I quote, "licking the glass", before they could drive 5 minutes today! LOL!

Once we got to Strasbourg we rode the 'metro' or 'tram' through town and to the shopping part of town! It is a really cool town! Especially the way the public transportation works! I love it! I think public transportation is so effective and smart! I wish Austin had better public transportation! Once we got to the shopping area, Renata had a meeting to go to and Lea and I went shopping/exploring!
They have this cathedral in the center of town and as you will see in my pictures, it is absolutely breath taking! Lea told me that they filmed like 30 seconds of the second Sherlock Holmes movie there! It was so detailed that my mind was having a hard time comprehending how someone could have created it!

After shopping we met Renata for dinner at this place called, Flams. In Alsace, the region of france that I'm in, there is a specialty food called flammekuche. At least I think thats how you spell it! Renata just calls it tart flambé. Hahaha! Anyway so it's like a pizza, but 10000000 times better! It's made with a cream sauce, cheese, onion and a ham/bacon! Thats the original! At this restaurant you could buy all sorts of different kinds! It was seriously so yummy! Renata makes these on nights when we just eat whatever we find in the house and those are sometimes my favorite nights! LOL!

After dinner we went back to her friends house for dessert, after we spent like 30 minutes sprinting around to catch different trains, because we were lost and couldn't find where we parked the car! LOL! At one point Wojtek called and asked us if we were ever coming home! Hahahaha!

Then we drove home!:) I slept on the way home too! LOL!:)

  1. Yea!! I was so excited to finally see some pictures from your weekend adventures! :) It's almost unbelievable that you are living there amidst all that beauty. I want to go to the little vineyard town!! The bottles were very pretty... I think Dad would like the white wines from there. And you and Lea are too cute together. How lucky you got sisters in your family. <3

  2. Grace I love your post, photos and excellent descriptions. The cathedral builders used "sacred math". I read a lot about it when I built the Labyrinth. I believe the ones in your photos are the most intricate I've ever seen! You seem right at home and how great is that!!!!! xo Babbs

  4. Thanks so much babs!:) Thats really cool about the ancient math and the cathedral and you have no idea how detailed this one was! It was seriously insane! I really have settled in nicely, still feels a little surreal, but I'm sure that will fade soon!:)
